The Story of Creation
In the beginning there was no Earth or sky or sea or animals, and then God spoke in the darkness.
Day 1 God said, “Let there be light.” He saw the light, that it was beautiful, and He separated the light from the darkness. He called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
Day 2 God said, “Let there be sky above the earth to separate the waters on the earth from the waters above it.”
Day 3 God said, “Let the water beneath the sky gather together.” He called the water that had gathered “oceans,” and He called the dry ground “land.”
Day 4 God said, “Let there be lights to distinguish day from night—the sun to shine during the day and the moon to shine during the night, as well as stars.”
Day 5 Then God said, Let the oceans swarm with sea creatures, and flying creatures full the sky. Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the oceans and skies throughout the earth!”
Day 6 God said, “Let the earth bring forth all kinds of animals.” Then He said, “Let us make mankind in our image, male and female, and let mankind be masters over the fish in the oceans, the birds that fly, the livestock, all animals, everything that crawls on the earth, and over the earth itself!” Then God blessed the humans and said, “be fruitful and multiply.”
Day 7 After six days God’s work of creation was complete. So He rested on the seventh day, blessed it, and made it holy.
Noah’s Ark
Noah was a descendant from Adam and Eve. Noah and his family loved and worshipped God, and God loved them in return.
One day God told Noah to build a huge boat called an “ark.” Once the ark was built, God told Noahto gather his family and two of every kind of animal, big and small, to board the ark. God was going to save Noah and his family, as well as all the animals He had created.
“The world has become a very bad place,” God told Noah. “I am going to send a flood. ”Seven days later it began to rain, and by the end of forty days and forty nights of continuous rain, the tallest trees and the highest mountains were all under water.
God protected Noah and his family and all the animals, insects, and birds. After many months had passed, the water went down so much that the ark nested on top of a mountain called Ararat.
Noah sent out a dove. When the dove returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf, Noah knew the ground had finally dried. Then God told Noah and his entire family to come out of the ark and to release all the birds and animals.
God then promised Noah that He would never send another flood. As proof He gave Noah a sign—a rainbow in the sky.
Daniel in the Lion’s Den
Long ago when Darius was the King of Babylon, he had a group of special advisors to help him rule his kingdom. Daniel was his favorite because he was faithful, responsible, and trustworthy. This made the other rulers jealous, so they came up with a plan to remove Daniel.
They said to King Darius, “We have written a new law in your honor, that cannot be revoked. For the next 30 days, anyone who prays to any God other than you, Your Majesty, will be thrown into the lion’s den to be eaten alive.” The King signed the new law not knowing the jealous rulers plotted to kill Daniel who would pray only to his God. When they told the King, “We found Daniel praying to his God.” King Darius ordered Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den.
That name night, King Darius could not sleep because he knew Daniel was innocent of doing anything wrong. The nest morning the King ran to the Lion’s Den and called out in anguish: “Daniel, servant of the Living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue you from the lions?” King Darius was overjoyed to hear Daniel say, “Long live the King! My God sent His angel to shut the mouths of the lion so that they would not hurt me. For I have been found innocent in His sight and I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.”
The king was happy and decided to serve Daniel’s God. He then had Daniel taken out of the lion’s den and given a place of honor for the rest of his life.
The Story of Baby Jesus
A long time ago, God spoke through one of His prophets named Micah saying, “the Messiah, Savior of the whole world, would be born in the village of Bethlehem in the land of Israel.”
Hundreds of years passed before one day, a young woman named Mary and a young man named Joseph decided to get married. Mary and Joseph lived in the town of Nazareth and were good people who loved God and did what God wanted them to do. God was very pleased with them.
God was so pleased that one day He sent an angel named Gabriel to Mary with a special message. Gabriel told her she was going to have a baby! Not just any baby’ Gabriel told her the baby would be the Son of God and she should name her baby ‘Jesus’.
Shortly before Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph traveled to the town of Bethlehem. When they got there, the town was very crowded and there were no rooms in the village inn. Instead, they stayed with the animals in a manger.
That night baby Jesus was born!
Just then, a new start appeared in the night’s sky. Shepherds were taking care of sheep in nearby field when Angels came and told that the Savior had been born. The shepherds then went to find and worship baby Jesus.
Far away, Wise Men called “Magi” saw the new start in the night’s sky. They knew it was a sign the Savior had been born. They followed the star until it led them to the manger. When they got there, they found baby Jesus there, wrapped in a cloth. The Wise Men gave Him gifts and worshipped him.
Jesus’ birth was the very first Christmas.
Jonah and the Whale
Long ago, God told his prophet Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and tell the people there to stop doing bad things, or God would destroy their city. Jonah told God, “No!” Instead, he ran away and boarded a ship going far, far away. He paid the captain and went to the lower part of the ship, where he soon fell asleep.
Suddenly, a terrible storm came upon the ship. The captain and sailors were very afraid. When they found Jonah asleep, they said, “How can you sleep?! Our s hip is sinking. Get up and pray to your God, maybe he can save us.”
“This is my fault,” Jonah replied, “There is only one true God, and He is the only one who can save us. I have been running from Him. If you throw me into the sea, the storm will stop. ”The captain said, “No!” but Jonah insisted. The men threw Jonah into the sea and the storm immediately stopped. Then the men saw a giant fish come to the surface and swallow Jonah.
While Jonah was inside the fish, he prayed and promised God he’d never run away again. After three days, God told the fish to spit Jonah out onto dry land.
Jonah then went to Nineveh and told the people what had happened to him. He told them to stop doing bad things, or their city and everything in it would be destroyed by God.
The people and their king believed Jonah. The king ordered his people to listen to God and stop doing bad things. When God saw that the people were doing good instead of bad, He felt love for them, and He did not destroy their city.
Jonah knew that God was a loving God and wants to see people turn from their bad ways and do good just like the people of Nineveh.
